FORSAKEN
BY GOD By Bill Gibbons
“My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art
thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? O my God,
I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and
am not silent. But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of There is only
ONE reason why God forsakes anyone
SIN! The further we withdraw from
God, the further God withdraws from us, but we are the ones to make the
first move. We forsake God long before He forsakes us. Today, as we look
around this once great country, one can easily see that we have forsaken
God; so it is only natural, that God is forsaking us; and the majority
are following Satan right into the pit of Hell. There is only one way
back for this nation: enough people must REPENT and turn to Jesus Christ
or this nation will perish. Getting a better government will accomplish
nothing as long as we remain in rebellion against EL-SHADDAI, Almighty
God. All we are doing in the political arena will accomplish nothing,
unless enough people REPENT so God can have mercy on us. As long as we
continue to forsake God as we are now doing, God has no choice but to
continue to forsake us. If you have truly been redeemed by the blood of
Jesus Christ, you know this is true. People toss around the figure of
“60 million Christians” in the This writer has been working to
expose evil politicians and their sponsors (the men that pay for their
elections and promote them on their major media networks) in this
country for over 50 years; and I have seen things go from bad to worse
ever year since I have been working against evil politicians. There is
only one explanation for this: People are forsaking God at an alarming
rate, and God is turning His back on us just as He was forced to turn
His back on His own beloved Son while He was hanging on that tree. “God
is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap”
GA.6: 7. This nation is sowing evil sins against God; therefore we must
reap what we sow. The only way to turn away God’s wrath from this
nation: is for a few people to really REPENT and turn to EL-SHADDAI,
Almighty God with all their heart. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY. We cannot
elect good men as long as we continue to forsake God as we are doing
now. This, for the sake of your children, you had better believe. The Master was hanging on that
tree, because of man’s sins against a Holy God, and, at this point God
had turned His back on the Saviour, because Jesus Christ was bearing the
sins of the entire world on His shoulders and God could not look upon
Him at that time. When many preachers talk about
the agony that Christ went through, they talk about the pain and the
awful misery caused by
His being crucified. Now I will readily admit that hanging on the
cross was certainly no walk in the park. But the physical pain was not
nearly as bad as the pain of having God, the Father, turn His back on
His Son and forsake Him. That was what hurt the Saviour more then the
physical pain. Jesus did not pray that God would help with the pain. NO!
He asked God: "My God, My God, why didst thou forsake me."God had to do
that, because He could not look on His Son while He was paying the
penalty for mans sins. You know what it is like to have someone blame
you for something you did not do; and then punish you for it. That was
what happened to the Saviour: For He was a man that never committed a
single sin in His earthly life; yet, on the cross, He was suffering for
every sin that had or ever will be committed in the history of the
world. God had to forsake Him and it was almost too much for the Saviour
to bear: to have God turn His back on His beloved Son. Let the redeemed
never forget what Jesus Christ did for us. Charles Haddon Spurgeon, in his
introduction to the 22nd Psalm said:
“This is beyond all others THE PSALM OF THE CROSS. It
may have been actual popoprepeated word by word by our Lord when hanging
on the tree; it would be too bold to say that it was so, but even a
casual reader may see that it might have been. It begins with, “My God,
my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” and ends, according to some, in the
original with “It is finished.” For plaintive expressions uprising
from unutterable depths of woe we may say of this Psalm, “there
is none like it.” It is the photograph of our Lord’s saddest hours, the
record of His dying words, the lachrymatory of His last tears, the
memorial of his expiring joys. David and his afflictions may be here in
a very modified sense, but, as the star is concealed by the light of the
sun, he who sees Jesus will probably neither see nor care for David.
Before us we have a description both of the darkness and of the glory of
the cross, the sufferings of Christ and the glory which shall follow. Oh
for grace to draw near and see this great sight! We should read
reverently, putting our shoes from off our feet, as Moses did at the
burning bush, for if there be holy
hollow ground anywhere in Scripture it is in this Psalm.” One can easily see why Spurgeon
was called “The prince of preachers.” You recognize at once that this
is referring to the Lord Jesus Christ, because the Lord repeated some of
what David is saying Himself: “My
God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (Mt.27: 46 – MK. 15: 34).
But, this is also David’s prayer while he was in great distress; so let
us look at these few verses as David applied them to himself and to I believe, because this nation
has turned away from God: that persecution is just a few short years
away from most citizens in this country. Many times, in oseph had been forgotten by the
Egyptian kings and there arose one that persecuted the children of
“And it came to pass in process of time that the king
of It is always possible the people
will realize, if their punishment is severe enough, that they will know
to cry to God for help. It is also possible, that enough will repent and
turn to God and God will help them, but my faith is not strong enough to
believe that will happen. God only gives people so many chances, then He
must lower the boom on them; and I fear that that time is fast
approaching this sinful world. God gave us a way out of our troubles
when He sent His Son into the world to pay for man’s sins. When man
rejects that awful price that the Master paid for mans sins, God gets
angry and He has ever right to do so. Verse five says: “They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were confounded.” God never changes and He is always ready to forgive and forget the sins of all those that truly repent of their sins and turn to Jesus Christ with all their heart. Preachers usually preach against
sin in general, but seldom ever look people in the eye and say thou
shalt cease from the sins that you are committing. This would have a
chilling effect on every person in that church. I know, because I have
preached that way an the message has been rejected, with such comments,
“we all sin” and they say this with about as much feeling as they would
say, “we ate lunch today.” I asked a preacher well beloved by his
people, “How long has it been since you scolded these people for living
they way they do?” The man looked at me and smiled, and said, “I have
never done that. If I did I would not have anybody to preach to.” He was
right of course. But was he doing the people a favour? Of course not, he
was failing his people, as most preachers are failing their people
today. This preacher was sincere, but he failed his people by not
scolding them for their sins. Sin drove the Master to the
cross, because God HATES SIN and all sin must be dealt with. We must
repent while still alive or face a vengeful God at the Great White
Throne Judgment Seat at the final resurrection. All of the redeemed know
this is true, while the unredeemed never give it any thought. The further we withdraw from
God, the further God withdraws from us, but we are the first one to
withdraw. We forsake God long before He forsakes us. And we are moving
further away from God every day. There is no use to ask God to bless
this nation as long as we continue on our present course. A person can see that God is
forsaking us, by all the "so-called natural disasters" that have
befallen us and the rest of the world in the last few years. As I write
this many areas of the nation have been struck by tornados, while many
other areas have been struck by floods. Thousands of acres of Arizona
forest and many homes are being destroyed by fire and the list goes on
and on. God is angry with the world and America, because we have
rejected Him. I don't care what you believe about these so-called
natural disasters; there is no such thing. NOTHING happens that God does
not allow to happen and there is nothing that God cannot prevent from
happening.
May God bless you all. Bill Gibbons |
